Roman Friedrich III is the founder of Roman Friedrich & Company (“RFC”). Mr. Friedrich has been an investment banker, and formerly a commercial banker, to the mining and metals industry for over thirty-five years.

Immediately prior to establishing Roman Friedrich & Company in 1997, he was the Managing Director at TD Securities responsible for its global mining M&A business. Early in his career he spent ten years at the Chase Manhattan Bank where among other positions he was Vice President for Latin America, President of Chase Manhattan Canada Limited, and Managing Director responsible for North American investment banking. From 1979 to April 1991 he was a partner at Burns Fry, a Managing Director at First Chicago and a partner at Wood Gundy. In 1991 he was a founding partner of the New York office of Lancaster Financial Corporation (a firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions) where he was responsible for the mining business of the firm. TD Securities, a subsidiary of Toronto Dominion Bank, acquired Lancaster in 1994. Over his career, he has provided numerous companies with advice on acquisitions, mergers and divestitures, as well as providing valuations and fairness opinions to companies in the mining,  metals and other industries. His investment banking activities have included the raising of equity and debt capital and the arranging of project finance.

Mr. Friedrich is on the Board of Directors of Zincore Metals Inc., and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the family of open and closed end mutual funds and ETF’s managed by Guggenheim Fund Investment Advisors, LLC all traded on the NYSE. He holds a B.A. from Rutgers University and attended business school at New York University.

Valerie Virkler joined RFC in 1997. She is responsible for research and analytical activities which support the M&A functions at RFC. She has been involved in all major assignments of the firm, including valuation work associated with the sale of Strategic Minerals to Evraz Group, the sale of Minera Moris to Hochschild-Exmin JV, the sale of Goldcorp’s Saskatchewan Minerals division and the purchase of Luismin by Wheaton River (Goldcorp). Previously, Ms. Virkler spent five years as Director of Client Services at Acxiom Corporation, where she was responsible for design, development and support of financial application software. During the 1980’s, she was Manager of Research & Development at Automatic Data Processing. Ms. Virkler holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Rutgers College.

John Friedrich joined Roman Friedrich & Company in early 2013. Prior to joining the Firm, he  produced investor relations videos and managed social media campaigns for mining companies out of Vancouver. While attending Chapman University, John interned for New Gold Inc. in investor relations in 2009 and then for the Fortune 500 company Goldcorp Inc. in 2011. John graduated from Chapman University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations & Advertising.
